MERVILLE, B.C- Firefighters are still looking for the cause of a fire in Merville last night.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Dennis Henderson with the Courtenay fire department, a call came in around 8:30 p.m. on Monday night about the fire, which was burning up a travel trailer inside the Arbutus RV compound.
When firefighters arrived, they found one RV being consumed by flame, with fire spreading from that trailer to another RV, as well as an outbuilding.
“It was reported that the small outbuilding stored a number of propane cylinders,” said Henderson.
“The fire attack teams focused extinguishment and cooling of the tanks in and around the outbuilding, as well as the RV adjacent to the trailer that was on fire.”
The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes, and no injuries were reported from the scene.
The investigation is continuing as of this publication.
