Courtenay family doctor wins national award for community service

A local doctor has won a national award for his service to the Courtenay community.

The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada is holding its annual conference this weekend in Edmonton. Last night they held their awards gala, recognizing doctors across the country for their work.

Dr. Donald Curtis, a family physician with a practice in Courtenay, was recognized with the Rural Service Award.

New and old patients describe him as compassionate, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and a good listener.
