Steel Wall at Kus-Kus-Sum to be taken down next year

As the Kus-Kus-Sum project continues, the Comox Valley Project Watershed Society will be taking down the steel wall.

This comes following the society’s AGM meeting on June 22, where executive director Caitlin Pierzchalski gave an update on the project.

In the update, Pierzchalski says the steel wall at Kus-Kus-Sum will be taken down late next-year as part of their work in restoring the site.

They hope after the project’s finished, the site can make 8.3 acres of fish and wildlife habitat, provide educational opportunities, and mitigate climate change.

The society adds that preparations for earthworks, plantings, and site stabilizations are underway.

The work on the wall is set for winter 2025/2026, eight years after the project first started.
