Seniors in the Comox Valley will soon be able to move into new homes.
Providence Living at The Views, located on 211 Rodello Street in Comox, will welcome their first guests and allow people to move into the new long-term care home.
MLA for Courtenay-Comox Ronna-Rae Leonard said she looks forward to the positive effects the home will have on the community.
“With an environment that promotes independence and fosters community engagement, this care home will not only enhance the physical health of seniors, but will support every aspect of their well-being, including their mental health.”
They say this home is Canada’s first non-profit long-term care home to help seniors living with dementia. The site will also be welcome to seniors who don’t deal with dementia and younger adults requiring long-term care.
It will have 13 households for 12 residents with private suites, a bathroom, and features like storage space and natural lighting.
A shared kitchen, laundry room, dining room, and living room will also be available to residents.
The home will open on July 8.
