UPDATE: Trump says he’s fine following assassination attempt

The shooting at a Donald Trump campaign rally Saturday is being investigated as an assassination attempt.

Reports say that the incident began shortly after former president Trump started speaking at the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.

Secret service agents moved quickly to cover Trump behind the podium and safely lead him out, with one of the shots hitting the upper part of his right ear. The shooting resulted in the death of one spectator, while leaving two others critically injured.

For Trump, he says he’s fine and is back home in New Jersey.

According to the FBI, the suspected shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by police. A possible motive has yet to be disclosed publicly by officials.

An investigation is underway into the incident and Crooks.
