Comox Valley residents will be better prepared for emergencies courtesy of provincial funding.
BC NDP MLAs Ronna-Rae Leonard and Josie Osborne announced the Comox Valley Regional District will receive $150,000 for an emergency operations centre resiliency project.
Osborne said the funding will help members of the community be safer and more resilient.
“While we hope we’ll never have to use emergency plans and equipment, they are absolutely essential to have in place to keep our families and communities safe.”
The funding is from the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund which provides $1.4 million to 29 local governments and First Nations for emergency preparedness.
The emergency operations centre is expected to use the funding to acquire new supplies and for training exercises to support staff and increase efficiency.
