Brooklyn Creek in Comox is getting repairs to make it better for trail-walkers, and salmon.
Starting on Monday trail work will begin, east of Mack Laing Court and Comox Avenue access points. Workers will repair the stream bank, install rock riffles, and build a spawning platform.
The riffles will help stabilize the channel, improve water quality, create fish habitat, and make it easier for fish to pass. They control the speed of water flow and keep sediment from moving downstream, stabilizing the bank.
The spawning platform will let people watch salmon in fall when they return to the watershed to reproduce.
The work will take about two weeks, visitors are asked to follow detour signage in the area.
