North Island College (NIC) students in programs for in-demand jobs are getting some funding.
The provincial government announced $3,500 will be made available to students in eligible short-term skills training programs for the fall 2024 and winter 2025 semesters.
Minister of post-secondary education and future skills Lisa Beare said the training allows for students to get training in hopes to upgrade to a better paying job in the future.
“I look forward to British Columbians taking advantage of this opportunity and building a stronger future for themselves, their families, and their communities.”
13 NIC programs will be covered by the funding which can be used to pay tuition, mandatory fees, and course program materials.
Eligible recipients must be Canadian residents residing in B.C., 19 years of age or older, and have graduated high school by the beginning of the course or program.
Depending on enrollment, the college will have $384,655 available in total funding.
