Water use is becoming more restricted for residents in Union Bay.
The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) alerted residents today stating stage two water restrictions are now in place effective Thursday, July 25.
General Manager of engineering services Marc Rutten said the water demand is greatly increased due to the hot and dry conditions.
“Water restrictions for the Union Bay water system are necessary to ensure sufficient water supply capacity throughout the summer and to reduce strain on existing infrastructure.”
With stage two restrictions in effect, residents lose an extra day to water their properties.
Even numbered addresses may now only water properties on Tuesday and Saturday, while odd numbered addresses can only do it on Wednesday and Sunday.
All residential addresses can only water from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on their given days.
Residential properties cannot exceed 50 cubic metres of water usage per month, and commercial properties can exceed no more than 300 cubic metres in addition to the restricted watering days.
