Residents in the Comox Valley Regional District are being advised of military training over the next few nights.
Aircraft from 19 Wing Comox will conduct training Tuesday, August 6 and Thursday, August 8 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. over the water between Comox, Hornby, Lasqueti, and Texada Islands.
Hercules airplanes will be in the area dropping spoke and illumination flares which can be seen from a distance and burn for 4-5 minutes each.
The training is for the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Search and Rescue (RCAFSAR) crews to prepare for night rescues which they get called upon to conduct.

Residents may see or hear the training but are advised not to be alarmed and they are not in any danger.
