A man has been charged after significant damage was done to a women’s vehicle with an axe.
The RCMP says 33-year-old Kaj Peterson was arrested on August 9 and charged with mischief and assault with a weapon.
The incident happened on August 6 while the woman was camping in her vehicle along Comox Lake Road.
Another vehicle parked in front of her and a man got out wearing a baseball hat with no visible logo and a white bandana covering his face and began striking the windshield of the woman’s vehicle with an axe causing significant damage.
The unidentified man then got back into his vehicle and departed towards Comox Lake.
After the woman gave a description of the man and the vehicle, the RCMP was able to identify a suspect and make an arrest.
Peterson has been released and is awaiting his next court appearance on August 29 and the investigation is ongoing.
