Students in School District 71 will be able to learn about the Comox Valley watershed.
Connected by Water is a watershed protection program which will educate students from grades two through 11 in Comox Valley Schools.
CVRD Watershed Protection Coordinator Zoe Norcross-Nu’u said it’s encouraging to see how young people realize how important the watershed is.
“They really see the importance in a good relationship with our drinking water and all the natural systems that surround it, and that’s very encouraging.”
Students will be taught about the watershed’s history and the role the natural water system plays in the community.
Students will be taught through the classroom, at the watershed, and through tours of the Water Treatment Plant.
The program encourages active participation to ensure students absorb as much information as possible and understand the importance of proper watershed care.
