Property owners now have the option to change the size of their curbside organic and recycling bins.
Owners of single-residential dwellings and duplexes can request changes to their bins based on the sizes of their existing carts.
Manager of Public Works Chris Thompson said a new online form has been launched to allow residents to request the change.
“After trialing out the carts since the beginning of the year, we understand some households would prefer to downsize their organics or recycling carts.”
Households can choose between 120L or 260L carts for organics, and 120L, 240L, or 360L for recycling carts.
Exchange requests will be open until November 1 and Emterra Environmental will contact property owners within three weeks of requests to arrange exchanges.
Cart exchanges will be free of charge in 2024, while 2025 will have a $65 administrative fee.
Multi-residential, strata, or manufactured homes park residents wanting to exchange carts are asked to contact their property manager as they have been equipped with information for utility billing.
Garbage carts will not be included in the program, and all will remain at 120L.
