Fifth street improvements postponed because of weather

As of today, road improvements for 5th street hill have been postponed.

That comes from the City of Courtenay, announcing the repaving of the hill to the 5th street bridge and the intersection at 5th and Cliffe Avenue has been delayed because of the weather.

The goal of this project is to improve the driving surface by adding aramid fibers to new asphalt.

The work was scheduled to start Thursday night, with no rescheduled date yet.
