WEEK IN REVIEW
The Glacier Kings had a difficult week to wrap up the month of September, dropping three straight game to end the month.
It started with a Wednesday, September 25 4-3 overtime loss to the Port Alberni Bombers on the road and continued with 7-2 and 6-5 losses to Campbell River and Westshore last weekend.
Head Coach Richard Kimber said despite the losses, the games were a good learning experience for the young team.
“We got to work on playing a full 60 minutes and we’ll be alright, we can hang with anybody so yeah, we learned we just got to play our game, and we can hang around.”
FRIDAY OCTOBER 4 6:30 P.M. VS SAANICH PREDATORS
The Glacier Kings get back to a standard two game weekend schedule starting off with a road matchup against the Saanich Predators.
It will be the team’s first look at this Predators team, who have struggled to a league worst 1-8-0-0 record to start the season.
Kimber said they are hoping to have a nice bounce back game to kick off the second month of the season.
“We are looking forward to it, little road trip getaway, and we’ve had a good week of practice to prepare.”
Puck drop goes on Friday night at 6:30 from George Pearkes Arena.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 5 7:45 P.M. VS PORT ALBERNI BOMBERS
Wrapping up the weekend slate, the Glacier Kings get a quick chance to rebound from last week’s loss to Port Alberni when they host the Bombers Saturday night.
Port Alberni holds a one-point lead ahead of Campbell River and Westshore for first place in the league playing one less game than the Storm.
The Glacier Kings got off to a slow start last time out against the Bombers, scoring all three of their goals in the third period.
It’s something Kimber said has been an issue to start the season and one they hopefully will have corrected.
“It takes us a bit to get going it seems so far so something we’ve hopefully worked on this week and we’re going to be ready to go.”
