Coast Guard crews responded to a barge, carrying diesel and gasoline, running aground near Campbell River Wednesday afternoon.
Coast Guard spokesperson Dan Bate says about 45-thousand litres of fuel were aboard when the tug-and-barge struck a rock in Surge Narrows, behind Quadra Island, and began taking on water.
Escorted by a Coast Guard ship, Bate says the tug and barge were moved to Campbell River at a slack tide at about 8:30 Wednesday night.
Bate says there was no release of any pollution or fuel into the environment.
