Police investigating fatal collision that left one driver dead

Comox Valley RCMP are still investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that left one driver dead.

Police say it happened on Friday at 9:30 p.m., when two vehicles crashed into each other at the intersection of the off-ramp to the Inland Island Highway and Comox Valley Parkway.

Officers responded to the incident with BC Emergency Health Services, Cumberland Fire Rescue, BC Coroners service, and an RCMP traffic reconstructionist, with the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 33-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Media relations officer Constable Monika Terragni says the officers’ hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the woman.

They say the investigation of this incident resulted in a big disruption to traffic in the area for several hours last night.
