Comox Valley RCMP are investigating a fire inside Walmart this week.
Police say on Thursday at 9:30 p.m., they were informed by the Courtenay Fire Department that they were attending a call for a fire inside the local Walmart.
The fire was in the menswear area, resulting in shoppers and staff being evacuated while firefighters put out the flames.
While no one was injured, they say the store remains closed.
Officers also say the fire is considered suspicious. Investigators were able to find a suspect and take them into custody. The suspect will appear in court at a later date.
Media Relations Officer Constable Monika Terragni says they are looking for witnesses who were either in the store or in the area when the incident happened.
