Comox Valley RCMP ask public to stop spreading misinformation about Mark R. Isfeld lockdown last week

A lockdown at a Comox Valley high school last week has caused a lot of misinformation to be spread according to RCMP.

Comox Valley RCMP are asking the public to stop posting unverified information on social media about Mark R. Isfeld being put in lockdown on October 10.

The only verified report was of a person heading to the school with a weapon, and the suspect was soon arrested, and no weapon was located.

RCMP say rumours continue to be thrown around on social media causing a large game of “telephone” and causing panic, fear, and confusion within the community.

The suspect from the incident remains in custody and should they be released; they’ll be subject to strict bail conditions and be closely monitored.

Police are still looking for credible information and anyone who has any is asked to contact them and all reports will be thoroughly investigated.

The situation remains closely monitored and Comox Valley RCMP said protecting schools is their highest priority.
