Three Duncan residents have been charged with one count each of first degree murder in connection with the death of a Nanaimo woman
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia says 59 year old Kehar Gary Sangha faces one count of first degree murder, and one count of counselling to commit murder.
Forty-one year old Tyler Stephen Elrix is charged with one count of first degree murder.
Forty-four year old Lily Irene Lindbergh is charged with one count of first degree murder, and one count of counselling to commit murder.
Sangha and Lindbergh have been arrested, but police are still searching for Elrix.
In August 2023, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit began an investigation in cooperation with the Nanaimo and North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP after information was received that the overdose death of a Nanaimo woman appeared suspicious.
On October 17, 2024, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges against the three suspects.
Sergeant Brenda Winpenny, Media Relations Officer for CFSEU-BC, says the investigation and subsequent charges “speaks to the specialized ability of CFSEU-BC to work with partner agencies to conduct complex investigations” involving people who threaten the safety of communities with violent criminal activity.
Police say that if anyone has any information on Elrix’s location they should contact their local police or Crime Stoppers, but do not approach him.
