With the final count for the BC election finished, former MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard offers her thoughts.
In both the initial count and final count, Conservative Candidate Brennan Day walked away with the most votes for Courtenay – Comox, with 13,481, beating Leonard’s 13,389.
In a statement responding to the results, Leonard says she congratulates Day on winning the election.
“Thank you to my campaign team, who worked tirelessly every day of the election,” said Leonard.
“Thank you to my staff, who have worked hard to serve the people of our community for two terms. Thank you to everyone who voted for me and put their trust in me for another term in office.
She also thanks the community for the past seven years, adding it has been an honour serving them.
While this wasn’t the result she hoped for, Leonard does wish everyone at the Legislature luck in the future, with hopes they can make things better for the communities in BC.
