Dog licenses available for purchase in Comox Valley

Dog licenses for next year can now be picked up in the Comox Valley.

That comes from the Comox Valley Regional District, announcing that you can buy 2025 dog licenses from your local municipal office in Courtenay, Comox, or Cumberland. This came into effect on Friday.

The licenses are required for dogs over six months old living in Electoral Area A – Baynes Sound, except for Denman and Hornby Islands, Electoral Area B – Lazo North, and Electoral Area C – Puntledge and Black Creek.

District Senior Manager of Building and Bylaw Compliance Amanda Yasinski says dog licenses help make sure your dog can get home faster in case they get lost.

The district says the cost to license a spayed or neutered dog is $10, and $25 if they aren’t spayed or neutered.

If you don’t get your dog license, you may get a $100 fine.

They say for this year, new locations have been added for you to grab these licenses. Those locations are the Comox Valley Aquatic Centre, the Comox Valley Sports Centre, and the Commissionaires Office, all located in Courtenay.
