With cold weather coming in, the Village of Cumberland encourages you to burn clean firewood.
The Village says burning that type of firewood helps lower wood smoke pollution for the fall and winter.
Wood smoke is a type of smoke that can cause eye and throat irritation and may aggravate any respiratory and heat illnesses, according to Island Health.
The Village says those effects get worse because of cold season inversions, which can trap air in the for extended periods.
