Courtenay Walmart fully reopens following a fire inside the store weeks ago

Nearly a month after a fire, Courtenay Walmart is ready to welcome customers back in full capacity.

The retail store announced on Facebook they are reopened in full capacity as of Tuesday, November 5, following an intentionally set fire in one of the departments.

The store closed after a suspect was arrested for setting fire to the menswear section, which spread to other affected areas on October 10.

They were able to reopen some parts of the store on October 20.

Shoppers and staff were forced to evacuate the store at the time of the fire which was quickly extinguished.

The last update about the suspect arrested was that they remained in custody pending a court appearance.

The store said they thank everyone for their patience and understanding, and they’re happy to be back to help everyone with their holiday shopping.
