Union Bay residents invited to open house about the new firehall development

Residents in Union Bay are getting the opportunity to learn about an upcoming project.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is hosting an open house on Thursday, November 28 for residents to learn about the upcoming Union Bay Firehall project.

Electoral Area A Director Daniel Arbour said the project is an important community need to provide better safety to residents and visitors of the area.

“The current building, built in 1956, is not only aging in terms of infrastructure, but also limits the ability for our firefighters to respond effectively.”

Staff at the open house will provide details of the design of the building, including amenities, community benefits, and a timeline for the project.

The project is part of a unified Alternative Approval Process set to take place in January 2025 and will help determine borrowing and funding options.

The open house will go from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on November 28, at the Union Bay Community Hall.
