Your kids can learn about climate action through a special summit this coming Thursday.
School District 71 has announced the Youth Climate Action Summit, an event dedicated to bringing young students and community leaders together to figure out solutions to ongoing climate issues.
Topics they’ll focus on include fostering stewardship, reconciliation, and knowledge exchange.
Lead teacher in Environmental Sustainability and Numeracy Serina Allison says the purpose is to provide space for the hearts of youth to strengthen and grow.
“We strive to ignite, rebuild, and sustain the fire of passion and change, fostering connections and a spirit of stewardship for our natural world,” said Allison.
The district says they hope through this event, it can start meaningful relationships, bring a sense of interconnection, and inspire youth to see themselves as leaders and agents of change.
The summit is open to those in Grades 8 to 12 and is taking place at the Florence Filberg Centre on November 14.
