Transit users in the Comox Valley will have an easier time moving around thanks to two new service improvements.
A new connection will run from Fanny Bay to Deep Bay and evening trips on handyDART’s will be provided 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
Chair of the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) Will Cole-Hamilton said this is another step forward to affordable public transit in the Comox Valley.
“Travelling on Vancouver Island can be difficult without a vehicle and it’s important to provide transportation options to everyone in the community.”
The new connection from Fanny Bay to Deep Bay started in early September and has two return trips per day allowing people to visit friends and family south of the Comox Valley.
Extended hours during weekday evenings along with existing weekend services will help handyDART users shift away from peak travel times and avoid requests not being accommodated due to vehicles being at capacity.
The changes help support the Transit Future Action Plan, which has been developed by the CVRD and BC Transit based on public feedback.
