One teenager was injured last night after being hit in a crosswalk by a vehicle as a pedestrian.
Comox Valley RCMP were called to Ryan Road at Cowichan Avenue around 6:35 p.m. Thursday, November 21 to assist with the accident.
According to a local Facebook group, one of the parents of the teenager hit said they were hit and went right over the windshield, resulting in a badly bruised arm and leg that paramedics thought was broken, and required stitches on their head.
According to RCMP, the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with investigators, and although they don’t know how fast they were travelling, there’s reason to believe it wasn’t excessive.
Cst. Monika Terragni with the Comox Valley RCMP said with darkness coming faster along with rainy and icy conditions, it’s important for everyone to stay alert.
“Pack your patience and give yourself extra time to get where you’re going. By staying alert and prepared, we can all help prevent crashes, so everyone gets through the season safely.”
The driver was issued a violation ticket as a result of the incident.
