Comox Valley Search and Rescue helped rescue an injured snowmobiler Saturday afternoon from the back side of Mount Washington.
Search and Rescue volunteers were called out by the RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services in the afternoon for the rescue. Because of the high avalanche danger in the region, elevated by recent storms, they had the lead forecaster with the Vancouver Island Avalanche Centre do a field assessment.
Once they got the green light to proceed, search and rescue successfully extracted and transported the patient by air to the Courtenay Airpark. The patient was then taken to hospital by BC Ambulance.
No information is currently available about the status of the injured rider.
