The La Nina weather has brought a nice surprise for skiers, as Mount Washington will be opening early for the first time in eight years.
This weekend from November 30 to December 1, the ski hill will be open for bonus days, thanks to a massive influx of white stuff during the last few stormy weeks. The base at the mid-mountain Whiskey Jack chair is already 258 centimetres, and the base at the Hawk and Nordic chairs is 144 centimetres.
The magic carpet won’t be running yet, and not all of the food services and retail at the resort will be open yet, either. However, the Nordic Centre along with its cross-country and snowshoeing trails will be open.
The official opening day is December 13.
