48th annual New Years Day ocean plunge announced by Town of Comox

A New Years Day tradition has been announced by the Town of Comox.

The 48th annual ocean plunge will happen once again at Goose Spit Park on January 1, 2025.

Comox Mayor Nicole Minions said everyone is welcome to attend, even if you’re hesitant to enter the chilly waters.

“The polar plunge is an invigorating way to come together with energy and excitement for the new year ahead.”

The event is family-friendly and free, bringing people together of all ages to start the New Year off refreshed.

Complimentary hot chocolate will be offered with your own mug, and prizes for those who register include Fitness Studio memberships, Comox Recreation gift cards, and passes to the Comox Valley Regional District’s Aquatic and Sports Centre.

Comox Fire and Rescue and lifeguards will be on hand in case of an emergency and to ensure safety.

Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult, anyone participating is recommended to only spend a few minutes in the water, and everyone is encouraged to dress in warm layers.
