It’s going to be very windy, as two wind warnings are in effect for the Island and Coast today.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued warnings for East Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, and North Vancouver Island, saying two strong systems are approaching the regions this morning.
Strong and gusty southeast winds will pick up and persist throughout the day, with winds as high as 90 kilometers an hour gusting up to 110 to 120 kilometers for the North.
They say this weather will be hitting areas from Saltery Bay to Powell River, Nanoose Bay to Campbell River, and the North Island.
You can expect objects being tossed or tree branches breaking because of the winds, with buildings to possibly be damaged on the Northern part of the Island.
Along with hazardous driving conditions on highways, Environment Canada adds there might also bve outages from the winds.
For the eastern part of the Island and Sunshine Coast, the winds will be at their peak in the afternoon but die down by tonight. For the North, winds will ease later in the afternoon.
