Make sure your gifts stay safe from thieves this holiday season.
That Comox Valley RCMP says that while the season is a time for joy, generosity, and spending time with loved ones, it’s also the time for thieves to target gifts inside vehicles.
Media Relations Officer Constable Monika Terragni says your car should be a safe space, not a showcase for thieves.
“Wrapped and unwrapped gifts left visible in your car can turn it into an easy target,” said Terragni.
Along with stealing gifts, police add thieves might smash car windows if they see something valuable, leading to pricey repairs on top of the stealing.
To keep your items safe, RCMP are offering tips for your vehicle.
They recommend that you take gifts with you or place them in your trunk, ensure your vehicle is locked, park in more well-lit areas or secure parking facilities, and do not leave any small items in the car.
If you see any suspicious activity or need to report a theft, call Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321.
