Cram the Cruiser food drive taking place this weekend

The Comox Valley’s RCMP have announced their local food drive fundraiser.

Cram the Cruiser returns Saturday, January 11, in partnership with the Real Canadian Superstore in Courtenay to raise money and food for the Comox Valley Food Bank.

Cst. Monika Terragni of the Comox Valley RCMP said January and February can be challenging for the food bank as supplies start to run thin.

“After the holidays, donations tend to slow down, but hunger doesn’t take a break.  We’re asking the community to come out and show their support for those who continue to need help after the New Year.”

The goal of the fundraiser is to fill a police cruiser full of non-perishable foods that can be used at the food bank after the holiday season.

RCMP officers will be on site ready to help, along with representatives from the Real Canadian Superstore and the food bank.

A BBQ by donation will also be running with food donated from the Real Canadian Superstore.

People are encouraged to come drop off non-perishable items, make a donation to the food bank, and spread the word to family and friends.
