Two days of exciting alpine ski racing are set at Mount Washington this weekend.
Over 130 athletes will be at the mountain for the Teck Coast Zone U14 Races, with athletes competing in a giant slalom on Saturday and a slalom on Sunday.
President of the Mt. Washington Ski Club and Chief of Race Michael Dingle said the weekend will celebrate the dedication of both the athletes and their coaches.
“It’s also a fantastic opportunity to showcase alpine skiing on Vancouver Island, the Mount Washington Alpine Resort, and the support of our amazing volunteers who make events like this possible.”
Racers aged 12 and 13 will be coming from clubs such as Whistler, Cypress, Grouse, Seymour, Sasquatch, and Mount Washington and are some of the best for their age groups.
Racers will be given two runs each day on the Whiskey Jack run to test their precision and speed to get the best time possible.
Over 100 volunteers are helping make the event possible, and everyone is welcome to come out and watch both race days.
Runs get started at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9:15 a.m. on Sunday.
