An early morning crash has left one person in critical condition.
According to Comox Valley RCMP, the incident took place at Highway 19A and Smith Road at 6:30 a.m., where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and injured.
A frontline officer arrived at the scene, followed by firefighters and paramedics, who took over in administering aid to the pedestrian.
Constable Monika Terragni says investigators are working with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service analyst to figure out what caused the crash.
“The driver remained at the scene, is fully cooperating with the investigation, and, alongside a witness, provided potentially lifesaving first aid to the victim,” said Terragni.
Police say the pedestrian is currently hospitalized in critical condition.
