Two warming centres open tonight and tomorrow in Courtenay and Cumberland

Two warming centres will be open this weekend in the Comox Valley.

According to the Comox Valley Regional District, the centres have been activated in response to the low temperature forecast set for this evening, with an overnight low of minus two degrees.

The activated centres are located at the lower Native Sons Hall in Courtenay and the Buchanan Hall in Cumberland.

The district says you’ll be offered seating, snacks, washrooms, security, and cleaning services.

While leashed or crated pets are welcome, you need to verify with the service provider.

Both centres officially open at 10:00 p.m., running until 6:00 a.m. Sunday. They open again at 10:00 p.m. that evening.
