Be ready for heavy snow, as three snowfall warnings are in effect for parts of the Island and Coast.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says starting today, two rounds of heavy snow are coming to East Vancouver Island, with one round for the Sunshine Coast because of artic outflow winds.
This results in an unstable arimass combined with an area of convergence over the Strait of Georgia, bringing more flurries and snowsqualls for several communities.
Up to 10 centimeters of snow will fall from Courtenay to Campbell River and up to 20 centimeters from Fanny Bay to Duncan. For Gibsons and Sechelt, snowfall will range between 10 and 15 centimeters.
The weather agency says snowfall amounts will vary depending on where heavy bands of snow are set up and how long they stay over an area.
They also say the snow will lead to lower visibility and changing road conditions. To be safe, they ask you to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating road conditions while driving.
The risk of heavy snow looks to continue to Tuesday, with that risk to lower between that afternoon and evening for the Island.
For the Sunshine Coast, the flurries will be less intense by tonight.
