You can celebrate Family Day by attending free events in Courtenay and Comox.
For Courtenay, city recreation staff are putting together an all-ages celebration at the Lewis Centre, with multiple games and activities for you and your family to take part in.
The city says family gymnastics and family archery sessions will be held throughout the day. You need to sign up for these sessions once you head to the Centre.
Other activities include a game zone with giant Jenga, Connect Four, a toddler zone, arts and crafts, and a sensory-friendly zone. Squash and the Wellness Centre will also be available.
For Comox, the town is holding a Family Day extravaganza at the Comox Community Centre, which includes free face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, open gym time, arts and crafts, board games, story time, an Axe Capoeira performance and lesson, and a squash lesson.
Centre recreation programmer Hanna Stoddart says the event is a chance to get together and celebrate families.
“We’re thrilled to be offering a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy – there’s truly something for all ages and interests,” said Stoddart.
The town says for this event, Comox Fire Rescue will be onsite with a fire truck, where you can ask questions, take a photo, and go on a tour.
Both events take place on Monday, with the Lewis Centre one running from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., while the Community Centre one runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
