Disney ships to set sail from Vancouver, as cruise season starts this month

Cruise ship spotters can expect to see more ships along the Island this summer, and Nanaimo will see increased ship visits.

According to Destination BC, Nanaimo will be hosting four ships at its terminal this summer, bringing more than 4,000 passengers and crew to the central Island region. That’s double the number of visits since last year to the terminal, which was built in 2011.

As well, ship spotters will be able to watch for two massive Disney Cruise Line ships, with the company operating out of Vancouver for the first time this year. The Disney Magic will be making 18 round-trips to Alaska, while the Disney Wonder will make 21 departures.

The first will leave on February 26, the earliest ever start for Vancouver’s cruise season.
