A car fire in Comox this morning forced a closure at the Aspen and Guthrie Road intersection.
According to a Facebook post, a vehicle caught fire shortly after 10:00 a.m., forcing Aspen Road to close while Guthrie remained open.
When Comox Fire and Rescue arrived, the occupant was out of the vehicle and was uninjured from the flames.
Photos show an older model car having a fire start under the front hood of the vehicle near the engine before being extinguished by Comox Fire Rescue.
Facebook comments said numerous people stood near the car taking photos and videos, something Assistant Fire Chief Jim Lariviere doesn’t agree with.
“People should think about not attending these kinds of incidents due to the hazards involved but if they are in the area, they should remain far back from the incident scene.”
The road was reopened about 45 minutes after the vehicle was towed away.
