Three Island farmers markets nominated for Awards

Three Island farmers markets could win awards for their work tonight.

Tonight is the 2024 BC Farmers Markets Awards, an annual event that recognizes farmers markets, vendors, partners, volunteers, and municipalities for the work they have done in their communities.

This year sees markets from Comox Valley, Duncan, and Powell River nominated for multiple award categories.

Of those three, Comox Valley has the most nominations with eight, making it to the top three in seven categories.

While Powell River has four nominations in the Large BC Farmer Market, Non-farm vendors and Best Live Entertainment Categories, it hasn’t made it to the top three.

Duncan is only nominated for the Large BC Farmer Market, where it’s in the top three.

The awards show starts at 7:00 p.m. tonight, which can be watched online via Zoom for free.
