Starting this month, residents can drop off extra yard waste at the end of McKenzie Avenue.
On social media, the City of Courtenay announced they are offering their drop-off collection point at the end of that avenue next to the City Operations Yard to those dealing with excess yard waste.
They say materials including leaves, grass clippings, flowers, plants, and small branches less than three inches in diameter will be accepted, adding materials can either be loose or contained in a paper yard waste bag, and free of garbage and other contaminants.
They recommend not bringing any kitchen waste to the drop-off point, as that goes into your organics curbside pin.
You can drop-off waste anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, and between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
The change is in effect from March 15th to April 17th.
