Comox Valley RCMP are asking for information involving a series of incidents from this week.
Police say on Tuesday at 7:33 p.m., a group of youth were chasing another group in the area of 21st street and Piercy Avenue in Courtenay, with witnesses saying a suspect brandished what looked like a pellet gun.
The suspect discharged the gun before using bear spray, resulting in some people getting medical attention on scene.
Officers say after that incident, other reports came in about theft and uttering threats, believing both incidents are related to the same group of youth.
“On March 26, at approximately 2:58 a.m., police received a report of an assault on the 800-block of Willemar Avenue in Courtenay,” said Comox Valley RCMP.
“Finally, on March 26, at approximately 4:22 a.m., officers responded to a report of an injured male walking along Woods Avenue in Courtenay. The individual was located and transported to the hospital, where he remains in serious but non-life-threatening condition.”
Constable Monika Terragni says their Major Crime Unit is investigating these incidents alongside the Bike Unit, Street Crime Unit, Police Dogs Services, and Integrated Forensic Identification System.
RCMP believes these were all targeted incidents, and that all the young adults and youth are known to each other.
If you have any information on these incidents, you’re asked to come forward, and to call Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 if you saw any suspicious activity in the areas mentioned.
