Filberg Park handed Level 1 arboretum accreditation from ArbNet

Filberg Park has been recognized for achieving professional standards and management of tree-focused parks.

The park has been awarded level 1 arboretum accreditation by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and the Morton Arboretum.

Executive Director of Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association Linda Trevor said the accreditation is a significant achievement for the park and a testament to the Town of Comox’s conservation, education, and community engagement.

“This recognition reflects the hard work of our team to preserve and enhance the Park’s natural heritage for future generations.”

Filberg Park is now listed in the Morton Register of Arboreta, a global database of botanical gardens devoted to tress and the study of conservation of woody plants.

ArbNet is an interactive community facilitating the sharing of knowledge, experience and other resources to help Arboreta achieve institutional goals while raising professional standards through the accreditation program.

Comox Mayor Nicole Minions said the accreditation is the result of collaborative efforts to preserve the beauty of the park.

“It acknowledges the ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance this space as an ecological resource, ensuring it remains a treasured destination for both residents and visitors to our community.”

A new arboretum of Filberg Park has been developed by the Town of Comox and the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park Association which can be found here.
