A free yard waste drop-off program is set to run for a month in Comox.
The Comox Valley Regional District says the program will allow residents to get rid of extra yard waste for free, with the aim of reducing wildfire risk for the region.
Comox Fire Rescueâs Lieutenant Brent Craven says spring is the perfect time to clear your property while lowering wildfire risks.
âBy removing dry leaves, twigs, and branches from your yard and gutters, you can help protect your home and community from wildfire damage,â said Craven.
For the program, you can drop off leaves, grass clippings, branches up to 3 inches in diameter, and plants. You canât drop off food waste, plastic bags, rocks, concrete, root balls, and stumps, as those wonât be accepted.
The district says you can drop off your yard waste at 1200 Knight Road in Comox seven days a week anytime from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting April 15.
The program will run until May 15.
