Flows along the Puntledge River will once again go up starting tonight.
BC Hydro has issued a public safety advisory, saying they will increase flows from the Comox Dam from 36 cubic meters per second to 50 cubic meters to increase power generation and to meet or exceed a 95 percent target of out-migration for salmon.
Hydro says the Comox Lake Reservoir is 134.6 meters above sea level and within normal range at this time of year, with inflows expected to be above normal during the weekend, returning to near normal next week.
This change comes as the water supply for this month for inflows is set to be 97 percent of normal.
Because of the inflow increase, you are advised to be cautious around the river. Safety signs will be put in place.
The increase runs from tonight till April 18.
