Comox Valley Schools seeking host families for next school year

More families are needed to welcome international students into their homes.

Comox Valley Schools’ International Student Program (ISP) is seeking host families for the 2025-26 school year.

Homestay Supervisor of ISP Youn Hee Edmonds said they’re encouraging the community to open their homes to international students to help make the district more vibrant and inclusive.

“Being a host family is a unique opportunity to foster meaningful connections, learn about diverse cultures firsthand, and positively impact a young person’s life.”

The program is welcome to all kinds of households, including families with children, couples without kids, and empty nesters who would like to share their home and community.

Host families receive support from the ISP team, including a monthly tax-free honorarium of $1,075 to help offset the costs associated with hosting.

The past school year saw students from over 24 countries come to the Comox Valley and sent more than 30 local students to countries across the world to study.

Anyone interested in becoming a host family is asked to contact Comox Valley Schools for more information.
