The Upper Island Riptide soccer club has said goodbye to one of their players after a public dispute over the sponsorship of the club.
Player Freyja Reed has been vocal in her opposition of the company sponsoring the club.
The Riptide released a statement yesterday, saying the decision comes after repeated breaches of the program’s code of conduct and feedback from the majority of team players, their families and volunteers.
The club’s sponsor, Marine Harvest Canada, also released a statement, saying it does not include any restrictions when it sponsors local community sports and the dispute is between the club and the player.
