Native Son’s Hall exterior stain and painting work
The Native Sons Hall is getting a touch-up. Crews will be working on the exterior wood and window frames from August 18 to September 13, from 7am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday, weather permitting. The work will take place in three phases over the course of the next month:
Phase 1: August 18 to August 28 — front of the building
Phase 2: August 28 to September 5 — 3rd Street/North side of the building
Phase 3: September 8 to 13 — East backside of the building
The work crew will prepare the exterior wood and window frame surfaces by removing the existing coating and then applying the stain or paint to match the work done on the south side of the building last year.
During the project, to ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety, any sidewalks, roadways or on street parking spots directly within the work zone will be not be accessible during work hours. The building will remain open for regularly scheduled programs and events.
Due to the Native Sons Hall’s Heritage building status, the City consulted the City of Courtenay Heritage Advisory Committee to ensure the works would preserve the building’s unique aesthetic qualities. The Native Sons Hall underwent a $1.9 million restoration in 2010.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused by this project. For further information, please contact the Property Management Division at 250-334-4441.
